Remember that commands like /examtimetable are not intended for use in groups, but for private messages with @UnisaGroupsBot. Many are not aware and others make the mistake of clicking the link, which duplicates it.
If you have this or any other problem in your group, kindly correct your peers, reply to the problem message, then in the reply, type:
/admin, which will call admins to come help out. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are you not sure what module combination to choose? Do you want to buy or sell books or other study materials? Need to know who to contact for queries about your degree? Need somewhere else to ask about a resourse for one of your modules?

Course groups help you connect with others doing the same course as you are, enabling students of all levels in a course to meet up and pass resources to one another, as well as information about the course and its modules.
We recommend everyone joins their respective course group, because although they are not there to be very active, you never know when someone has something to offer or ask.

Find & join the group for your course by using the bot (press: @UnisaGroupsBot) or the website (press: Unisa-Groups.tk) and search for your course by using the code number or the name. If there is no result because it has not been made yet, use feedback or tell us in @UnisaLounge that you need it to be created.

Hello Everyone,
Kindly refrain from trying to use these groups to collect students to other groups. We have been getting complaints of some groups suffering from lower activity because of individuals calling participants to join other groups to participate in instead.

โ—๏ธ Please note, this is considered an offense, as it disturbs students' collaboration, and if you post other group links or tell people to send you their details to add them to other groups (such as the ones we are decommisioning on WhatsApp), then you will be banned from all student groups, permanentlyโ€ผ๏ธ
Please respect the rules to avoid disrupting studies for peers. If you wish to have a private group, you are free to, but this is not the place to gather participants.

Thanks and all the best in your studies! โœŒ๐Ÿฝ

iPhone users,
Please note that there seems to be a bug in the iOS app that makes some media shared in groups not visible. It is recommended you try use the desktop version of Telegram on a computer as a means of accessing shared resources in your group until Telegram releases a fix for the iPhone app. Alternatively, you can also try ask your peers in the groups to point you to the file you are looking for by replying to the message of the file.

Besides that, consider tweeting to Telegram to tell them to fix the issue, so that they can take note of it and hopefully fix it sooner. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sadly, it has come to light that some students used the opportunity that chat platforms bring for learning and collaboration, to cheat in their exam instead. This is possible on any platform, but some may opt to portray Telegram as a scapegoat to break down the effort we have put into helping everyone here.

The student admin team do not take it lightly and we would like to make it very clear that we condemn such behaviour! We do not & will not shelter such students, & believe all and any that do such a thing should be brought to justice! We are disgusted that some students try to use platforms meant to help their studies, in such a dishonest manner!

We are students and do not police these groups. Students are free here to enjoy positive and meaningful interaction; we only step in to deal with those that disrupt for others. However, all are expected to use this freedom to act with dignity and respect for each other, UNISA and the student admins that make all this possible for you!

Be responsible and upstanding individuals; do not condone the misuse of your groups for cheating or anything negative!
Report offenders by typing:
/admin cheating/spam/fighting/etc
in the group, or to report anonymously, press @UnisaGroupsBot and type
/admin cheat/fight/spam/etc in Name-of-the-Group

โ€ผ๏ธBe warned, penalties for cheating in exams are severe, with the possibility of being banned from all South African universities for up to 10 years!

Avoid Shortcuts
Don't feel impatient to properly discuss topics and sticking points in your assignments. That is what these groups are here for. Avoid wanting to take shortcuts like comparing answers & risking plagiarism.

There is a reason why in classrooms, students discuss rather than share answers & why at university, we are also discouraged from answer sharing: For you to actually learn something, instead of just satisfying the system with answers, then have people mock you afterwards for not knowing the work you graduated for.

These groups are a resource to help you work together to deepen your knowledge, not to make it shallower by using others' work. Use the groups to build yourself up by starting, participating & contributing to discussions.
Do it for yourselves & develop into upstanding, intelligent and capable graduates! ๐ŸŽ“

Unisa-Students' Announcements (12)

Hello fellow students,
Please note that Unisa has hidden the marks from myUnisa, because they are trying to get everyone to stop logging in so frequently, and consequently overloading the server(s). This is so that they can work well enough for them to finish posting the results, etc.

Please be patient and ask others to also avoid trying to bypass what Unisa has done because it will only make the overloading problem continue and delay everything further.
Rather focus on making progress in your next modules, or anything else that will avoid using the Unisa servers.

Just because you can not yet register does not mean you can't plan your next modules, join the groups here, find the tutorial letters shared in them & get started. If you finish your assignments early, it will mean when you register, you can just submit earlier & avoid the time when everyone starts rushing to submit and cause server problems again.

Be smart & proactive to avoid adding to the problem; use the time to get ahead instead. โœŒ๐Ÿฝ

As a little bit of an apology, @UnisaGroupsBot has a new feature!

You can now query your exam results:

/examresults 12345678
(replace with your student number)

Two things to be aware of:
- Please do not spam this. Requesting your results multiple times will not speed up their release.
- If you need marks for a different exam period, please click here to see how

Sadly this means there are no students in those groups at this time.

Unisa-Students' Announcements (20)

Good morning fellow students, @inferKNOX here with a bit of encouragement.

You know, a pervasive issue I find among us is that most of us treat each other like we treat the @UnisaGroupsBot, meanwhile we all want to be treated as people.

To explain this; many of us are always silent & only make requests at other students like: "Please help me...," "How do I...?" "Can anyone ... for me?"
Many of us never just send a message to our group just to wish others a good day, or comment on someone else's message, even if just to say, "I wish I could help, but I don't know either," or do anything except just ask for something to be given to us or done for us. Essentially, we want others to treat us less like robots, while we are treating them like robots.

Let's work together, not just ask from each other.
In a physical classroom, you would not wait until 400+ people are all participating in a group to start a discussion, 10 or 5, or even just 2 are enough; so you don't need to wait here until everyone or even most in your group is active.
Is nobody active? Then why don't you be active until others join in? It might take 1 message, or 1 day, or 1 week of messages, but if you stay making comments in your group, someone will eventually reply and interaction starts. Before asking, "Why is no one active," ask yourself whether you are one of those people that is not active and if the next person is not asking that same question from you. Be the one to start so others will follow and you all enjoy the environment that you created.

You are all the cream of the crop in society and you are the change makers. The world looks to you to make a difference, so let's start by making a difference for ourselves right here, not to also try and look to others to do it for us.
Be the life and heart of your group & let that breathe life into the rest!๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ
